Safeguarding personal data is fundamental to the way the Lloyd’s market operates. We monitor legislative and regulatory change, develop practical guidance and represent managing agents in cross-market discussions so that the market can meet its legal obligations while continuing to innovate.
We collaborate with the IUA and co-hosts the Joint Data Protection Committee which, a discussion forum for DPOs. The Committee also takes on specific projects such as revamping data protection clauses.
The LMA also acts as secretariat for the Cross Market Data Protection Working Group, this is a group which acts as a rapid-response forum for issues of strategic market importance. It was initially set up to consider the challenges of GDPR implementation, but was reconvened in 2022 to consider data protection issues arising out of Blueprint Two. One of the key recent outputs of this group, by way of example, has been redrafting the London Market Core Uses Notice.
