Description
The LMA invites underwriting and claims professionals to attend PFAS & Contaminants, where attendees will gain up-to-date insights into key legal, regulatory and coverage issues, alongside emerging risk developments and perspectives on how contaminants-related exposures may evolve in the years ahead.
Speakers will explore a range of existing and emerging risks, including PFAS, microplastics and phthalates, as well as wider mass tort exposures and litigation developments across the UK, the EU and the US.
Speakers
Barnaby leads Kennedys’ product liability and life sciences team in London and has almost 20 years’ experience handling product liability claims, high-value group litigation, product recalls and international claims coordination. His work includes acting for Johnson & Johnson companies in the defence of pelvic mesh group litigation in England and Wales, as well as monitoring mesh claims globally. He also leads the team acting for Welsh Water in what has been described as the UK’s largest environmental group litigation, in connection with the rivers Wye, Lugg and Usk.
In addition to life sciences and product-related work, Barnaby regularly advises insurers on life sciences, product liability and product recall-related policies, and claims in the UK and internationally.
Barnaby is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers, where he sits on the Product Liability Special Focus Team. He also sits on the Liability Underwriters’ Group and the Developing Technology Monitoring Group of the International Underwriting Association of London, and represents Kennedys on the European Justice Forum.
Emilie is dual-qualified in France and England and Wales, and has worked at Kennedys in London for nearly 14 years. Her dual qualification provides a strong advantage in advising clients on matters involving cross-border and international elements.
She has been a key member of Kennedys’ group action practice for many years, working across major matters ranging from pelvic floor mesh products litigation to diesel emissions litigation. Emilie is recognised for her work on complex group litigation, particularly within the life sciences sector.
Emilie has also acted as monitoring counsel on product liability cases across EMEA jurisdictions. She has significant experience handling court expert investigations and expert evidence relating to complex technical issues in England and internationally.
She regularly delivers client training and presents at seminars and webinars on product liability, life sciences and litigation involving foreign jurisdictions or cross-border claims.
