Who We Are

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) represents the interests of all 56 Lloyd’s managing agents and all Lloyd’s members’ agents, who together underwrite approximately £56.2 billion of risk in 2025.

The purpose of the LMA is to make the market a better place and in so doing, maintain the Lloyd’s market’s position as the pre-eminent leader in specialty and commercial risk. We sit at the centre of the Lloyd’s market, a world-leading global marketplace for complex risk.

We seek to make the market a better place in five fundamental ways. First, we advocate on behalf of our members with key stakeholders, including governments, regulators and the Corporation of Lloyd’s. Second, our work spans technical and professional support, from developing model policy wordings to enabling the adoption of new technologies across the market.

Third, our LMA Academy is one of the leading providers of Lloyd’s technical training in the market, supporting the ongoing development of underwriting, claims, finance, risk and operations professionals. Fourth, we drive forward a digitalisation agenda for the market and fifth, we are strong advocates of advancing the market’s inclusive culture.

Collaboration is at the core of what we do. We engage closely with our members to understand and tackle the issues that matter most, and we partner with Lloyd’s and other market associations to help shape the future of the marketplace.

Our 2025 goals

In support of our members and the future of the Lloyd’s market, the LMA has set four strategic goals for 2025. These reflect our commitment to driving progress, strengthening technical capabilities and ensuring the market remains globally competitive.

We are championing a smarter, more streamlined future through initiatives like Blueprint Two and digitised contracts, driving data standards, while advocating for policy changes that foster a competitive global regulatory environment. Our influence is grounded in deep market knowledge, enabling us to represent our members effectively – from capital oversight to emerging risks.

These goals are bold yet practical. They ensure the market remains agile, innovative and resilient – ready to navigate an evolving risk landscape and seize global opportunities.

Committees

The LMA’s committees bring together representatives from across the Lloyd’s market to debate on pertinent issues, develop model wordings and drive market-leading initiatives.

Our joint committees, comprising representatives from both LMA and International Underwriting Association (IUA) member firms, reflect the collective voice of the Lloyd’s and company markets.
