Livestock/Bloodstock Business Panel – 21 January 2025

The panel discussed the EVA vaccine’s use, noting licensing differences between countries and safety concerns. The potential for STD claims linked to EVA was debated, highlighting varied policy conditions. Updates on BEVA’s Equine Euthanasia Guidelines were reviewed, focusing on clearer definitions, the removal of the term ‘destruction”, and aligning insurance and veterinary considerations. Discussions covered balancing welfare with practical policy language, especially for high-value horses. The need for updated guidance and alignment with policy wordings was emphasised. A working group was established to review FSI wording. The Panel noted the Nick Mills Memorial Lecture scheduled for 29 January 2025.
