Why Join the LMA?

Working at the LMA means being part of a collaborative, forward-thinking organisation at the heart of the Lloyd’s market.

Our purpose is to enable the success of our members and the Lloyd’s market by delivering expertise, education and connecting and synthesising market opinion.

We provide opportunities to make a real impact – from shaping industry initiatives and driving market innovation, to supporting our members through change.

With hybrid working, excellent benefits and a focus on continuous learning, the LMA is a place where employees can learn new skills, develop their careers and contribute to impactful change across a dynamic and evolving industry.

Something sweet

Our well-stocked chocolate and fruit supply means sweet treats are never far away, bringing a little extra joy to the working day.

Learning and development

Developing the market’s technical expertise is at the heart of what we do – and that same commitment applies to our employees.

We offer a wide range of resources to help employees build the knowledge, skills and experience needed to reach their full potential and contribute to the LMA’s continued success. These may include:

  • In-house learning, covering a comprehensive induction, technical skills, systems training, desktop applications and interpersonal skills.
  • Access to the LMA Virtual Academy, featuring over 550 e-learning modules focused on technical expertise, business acumen and personal development.
  • External courses to develop specialist skills.
  • Professional qualifications relevant to an employee’s role, such as ACII, CIMA, ACCA or CIPD.

Our commitments

Central to the LMA’s purpose is making the market a better place, and we are committed to making a positive impact beyond our core operations. Our approach involves fostering an inclusive workplace, collaborating with organisations to support our work and contributing to causes that align with our values. By integrating these principles into our culture, we aim to create a meaningful difference for our employees, members and the wider market.

Our impact on sustainability

Sustainability is essential to the long-term success of the market, and the LMA is uniquely positioned to support Lloyd’s in guiding it towards implementation. Through market-leading insights and our LMA Academy events, we help chart the market’s progress towards a more sustainable future.

Our sustainability support helps our members to:

  • Strengthen the market’s role as a hub for innovation in products, distribution and capital structures – meeting their clients’ evolving needs in a more sustainable world.
  • Access practical tools and guidance to highlight opportunities for growth, while supporting clients with complex transition journeys.
  • Foster collaboration with stakeholders to enhance services, reporting standards and sustainability-related risk analysis.

Address the full scope of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, and encourage creative, forward-thinking solutions across the market.

Our chosen charity partner

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide was chosen by our employees as the LMA’s charity partner for a two-year term from 2025. PAPYRUS is a UK charity dedicated to preventing suicide and promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in young people.

Throughout this partnership, we’ll be walking, running, baking, donating – and more – to support this vital cause while deepening our understanding of mental health and wellbeing.

Our fundraising will help change young lives. Just £10 could fund a life-saving conversation with a HOPELINE247 advisor, while larger donations can support suicide prevention sessions in schools, provide BSL interpretation for those in need, and train individuals in life-saving skills. Every pound raised makes a difference.

While PAPYRUS will remain our primary focus, we will also collaborate with other charities throughout the course of the partnership, ensuring that we continue to make a positive impact in multiple ways.

We are confident that, together, we can make a real difference.

Our commitment to inclusion

Inclusive is one of our core values and is embedded in everything we do. We believe that attracting, developing and retaining a diverse range of talent brings broader perspectives, richer ideas and greater innovation to the LMA and our members.

DISCO (Diversity, Inclusion, Social, Charity Organisers)

We are committed to creating an environment where our employees feel heard, valued and supported. Our employee resource group, DISCO, is central to this by championing diversity, equity, inclusion, charity, social and community through open dialogue, meaningful initiatives and engaging events.

DISCO’s key focus areas include:

  • Leading and supporting the LMA’s charitable initiatives.
  • Promoting equity and celebrating diversity within our workplace.
  • Organising inclusive events that build camaraderie and connection.
  • Gathering and providing feedback on specific topics when invited.

Our employees are our greatest asset and we are proud to cultivate an environment where they can thrive. Our commitment to inclusion not only shapes our internal culture but also contributes to broader progress across the Lloyd’s market.

Lloyd’s Partner Network

We work collaboratively with Lloyd’s to drive positive change and foster inclusivity in the market. We actively promote and encourage our employees to get involved in market initiatives.

The Lloyd’s market-wide network supports the insurance market that focus on specific diversity, equity and inclusion needs. These networks help to support initiatives, host events and share best practice guidance for diversity and inclusion within and beyond the London market, across the UK and internationally.

Our flexible working policy

We offer an industry-leading hybrid working policy, built on trust and delivering on outcomes. We allow our employees to choose when, how and where they work – whether that is from the LMA’s office in London EC3, or elsewhere in the UK – providing that it meets the needs of the LMA and our members.

We believe in empowering our employees to work in a way that allows them to thrive.
